Farmer to Farmer Program

For over three decades, ACDI/VOCA has been a leading provider of long- and short-term technical assistance in Bolivia. During the last thirty years, ACDI/VOCA volunteers and consultants have completed over 1,100 assignments in the Latin American region and more than 500 in Bolivia alone. Since 1972, ACDI/VOCA experts helped to build viable cooperatives of all types under the USAID-funded worldwide Cooperative Development Program (CDP). Since 1986, chambers of agriculture, producers’ associations, agribusinesses and development NGOs in Bolivia have benefited greatly from the assistance of volunteers provided through the USAID-funded Worldwide Farmer-to-Farmer (FTF) program.

From 1986 through 2003, ACDI/VOCA implemented the USAID Worldwide FTF Program in Bolivia. The FTF program promoted sustainable development by targeting short-term technical assistance to facilitate integrated community development in an environmentally responsible manner. The volunteer programs under FTF were designed to support USAID/Bolivia’s strategic objectives for economic opportunities, environmental conservation and democracy. Over the course of the project, 20 short-term ACDI/VOCA FTF volunteer assignments were implemented annually throughout Bolivia.

While the FTF activity is no longer active in Bolivia, ACDI/VOCA monitors the continued impact that program interventions have had on the Bolivian economy.
