Community Centers, Plazas, and Markets

CARANAVI

Construction of Community Center in Villa Litoral - Area VII

Community

The local Women's Club, Neighbor Association, and miscellaneous Sindicatos and Federations in the community of Villa Litoral, as well as all 425 residents, can use the new community center which has ample facilities for meeting and events. The center is a one-story brick structure with a large meeting hall, offices, bathroom facilities, and storage rooms.

NORTH YUNGAS

Construction of a Community Center and Market for Trinidad Pampa

In their community of 2,040 people, Trinidad Pampa now enjoys a new three-story building that houses a marketplace on the first floor, five offices, a conference room, and bathroom facilities on the second floor, and a large meeting hall and small kitchen on the third.

SOUTH YUNGAS

Construction of Central Market in Yanamayu

In the Municipality of La Asunta, the community of Yanamayu hosted an informal market twice weekly in inadequate space. With funds under YCADF, a new three-story brick structure will replace the existing market area, with the first floor used as an actual market, the second floor providing space for a cafeteria, dining area and bathrooms facilities, and the third floor used as a community hall.

Construction of Community Center for Villa Litoral - Area IV

For the 420 residents of Villa Litoral in the South Yungas, the construction of a new community center provides meeting space for local womens clubs, neighborhood boards, and miscellaneous Sindicatos. The new center, a two-story brick structure, contains a workshop, meeting room, kitchen, bathroom facilities, and two storage rooms.

Completion of Community Center and Public Rest Rooms for San Jose

The completion of the San Jose Community Center included the construction of the commmunity´s first public restrooms. The community center will be used for meetings, seminars, training classes, and recreational facilities.

Community Lodging in La Asunta

La Asunta had only three small lodging establishments, insufficient for year-round demand. The YCADF completed the construction of a new lodge, providing space for federation meetings, conferences, and other gatherings. The new facility contains lodging rooms, bathrooms, public telephones, a kitchen, and an auditorium.

The Yungas Community Alternative Development Fund is funded by a grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by ACDI/VOCA Bolivia. The project described here is part of a bi-national initiative to improve the standard of living and increase the productive potential of those residing in the North Yungas, South Yungas, and Caranavi provinces in the Department of La Paz, Bolivia. This activity is part of a greater effort aimed at containing and eliminating illicit and excess coca production
